What does apple moonshine taste like?
Apple Pie Moonshine This apple pie moonshine tastes like apple pie in a jar, but it does pack quite a kick if you’re not careful. The longer it sits in the fridge, the better it gets. Place a cinnamon stick in each jar if you like a lot of cinnamon. Makes a great gift. Total Time: 1 hrs 10 mins Jump to Nutrition Facts
- 1 gallon apple juice
- 1 gallon apple cider
- 2 cups white sugar
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 4 cinnamon sticks, or more to taste
- 1 pinch apple pie spice
- 1 (750 milliliter) bottle 190 proof grain alcohol
- 1 (750 milliliter) bottle vodka
- Combine apple juice, apple cider, white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, and apple pie spice in a large pot; bring to almost a boil. Cover the pot with a lid, reduce heat, and simmer for about 1 hour. Remove from heat and cool completely.
- Stir grain alcohol and vodka into apple syrup; remove cinnamon sticks.
- Pour apple pie moonshine into clean glass jars or bottles. Store in the refrigerator. MattOlay V-H
I like to use leftover apple juice and cider jugs to store the finished product. Wine and liquor bottles work well, too. Show Full Nutrition Label Hide Full Nutrition Label

How good is apple pie moonshine?
What is Moonshine? – Real moonshine is a homemade high-proof liquor. It is usually used to describe alcohol that is made illegally. In fact, that is where the name comes from – making alcohol by the light of the moon during Prohibition (when the government isn’t watching).
- That is not what my recipe is.
- Nope, I created what tastes as strong as moonshine.
- Instead of distilling my own alcohol, I used Everclear.
- This drink really does taste as strong as some of the drinks you might find in the mountains.
- If you’ve never had apple pie moonshine, I must warn you that it’s as dangerous as it is delicious! This moonshine is made from 190 proof grain alcohol (Everclear), so it packs a punch.
Given that it also tastes amazing, it’s best in moderation and should only be served by the shot. Please enjoy responsibly.

Is Ole Smoky strong?
Ole Smoky Blue Flame Moonshine Review By Richard Thomas Rating: B+ Ole Smoky Blue Flame Moonshine (Credit: Richard Thomas) Moonshine has a reputation for being rocket fuel. In truth, illicit moonshine often is fairly high octane stuff and for sound economic reasons.
Yet it’s not actually rocket fuel, in that it’s surprisingly palatable, despite it’s potency. I have read that this legal, Gatlinburg-made hooch is a corn and sugar shine, although I wasn’t able to confirm that by press time. The Moonshine Although it’s light blue in the jar, the liquid is quite clear in the glass.
The nose is sweet, creamy corn, like corn pudding that is just a little undercooked. There is no corn husk, grassiness to the scent whatsoever, and it’s amazingly smooth when one considers it’s 64% ABV. Mind you, I was tasting from a tumbler, but even so it gave me no burn whatsoever! The flavor is simple and full-bodied: thick, buttery sweet corn, but more bit sweeter than any sweet corn I’ve had.
It’s not like sugar-added, but just more intense. The finish finally brings the corn husk out, but it’s quite smooth and understated. It’s warm, but not hot and with no bite at all. Once again, this is quite a surprise for such a strong and unaged liquor.
Is moonshine supposed to taste strong?
How is Moonshine Made? – Moonshine is an alcoholic drink that is typically made from corn, sugar, and water. The corn is mashed, and then the sugar and water are added. This mixture is then boiled. The alcohol content of moonshine can be as high as 95%, which is significantly higher than the alcohol content of most other types of liquor.
The first step in making moonshine is to cook the corn.
This can be done in a variety of ways, but the most common method is to use a still. A still is a device that is used to distill liquids. It consists of a pot that is heated on a stove and a tube that leads from the pot to a container that collects the distilled liquid.
The second step is to add sugar and water.
This mixture is then boiled. The boiling helps to extract the alcohol from the corn mash.
The third step is to collect the distilled liquid.
The distilled liquid is collected in a container that is known as a receiver. The receiver can be either a glass jar or a bottle.
The fourth step is to filter the moonshine.
The fourth step is to filter the moonshine. This can be filtered using a variety of methods, but the most common method is to use a filter bag. This will remove any sediment or other particles from the moonshine. You can also use a coffee filter or cheesecloth for this purpose.
The fifth step is to bottle the moonshine.
To bottle the moonshine, simply pour it into a Mason jar. You can also use other types of jars or bottles, but Mason jars are the most common. Make sure to leave some space at the top of the jar so that the moonshine can carbonate. If you want to make it look more professional, you can buy a bottle capper and caps from a store.
The sixth step is to age the moonshine.
To age the moonshine, you can store it in a barrel. This will give it a smooth, mellow flavor. You can also age it in a carboy or glass jug. If you do this, make sure to use an airtight seal to prevent the moonshine from oxidizing. Aging it will improve its flavor and color, and it will also help to remove any impurities.
The seventh step is to drink the moonshine.
The most popular way to drink it is to drink it straight, but there are other ways to consume it as well. Some people like to add it to their coffee or tea or mix it with other drinks. There are also recipes that call for moonshine to be used in place of other ingredients.
Does moonshine taste better than vodka?
Taste & Flavor Profile – Another difference between moonshine and vodka is their flavor profile. Moonshine is more flavorful than vodka because it is sweeter, coming from corn mash. It’s a more potent whiskey in a mason jar. But, what does the label XXX on a moonshine jug mean ? On the other hand, vodka is made from grapes, potatoes, rye, wheat, and sugar beets.
Is moonshine smoother than vodka?
It requires water, sugar and yeast at minimum but most often it’s made from grains like corn, barley and rye, or some sort of common fruit. When diluted out to an equal proof of vodka: If made from corn/grain mash: Much smoother than commercial vodka with better taste.
