Only need to prime the pump as you say when trying to connect a water tank to a industrial cooker. I wasn’t talking about industrial cookers or putting a tap, I was talking about using a crop plot without irrigation, getting by on rain (hence the mention of rain). You generally need to make sure that the crop plot has a lot of water in it to start, and then the rain maintains it.
