The Distillery Nestled in the sleepy little town of Trimble in Northwest Tennessee, the Full Throttle Distillery has quickly become a true local gem. Fashioned after the old Trimble Cotton Gin that previously occupied the property for almost 100 years. Highlighting an authentic and striking all copper pot and thumper still itching to distil another small batch of Tennessee Whiskey new make spirit.

Full Throttle is an authentic “grain to glass” endeavor. Locally grown Northwest Tennessee corn, freshly milled on site begins the process. Once ground, we mash our grains to create a beautifully deep maze colored mash, ready for fermentation. Introduction of the yeast then ferments our “grain in” mash in temperature controlled fermenters right underneath one of visitor windows.

We’ve heard it time and again from our visitors: “It smells like baking bread!” After several days fermenting we are ready for our first, or strip, distillation through the still, to harvest the alcohol from the fermented mash. A batch of stripped alcohol of between 60-70 proof is collected.

This stripped alcohol is then distilled again in a Spirit Run, creating our final twice distilled, small batch, pot Tennessee Whiskey at 125-135 proof. Walking along the wrap-around “self tour” porch of the distillery, you can smell the processes of fermentation and distillation. Cereal, alcohol and natural fruit aromas are wafting through the wall of screened windows for you to savor.

I live 2 hours away, so I wanted to call first before driving over there. I see on the website they are Open 7 days a week, yet I’ve called multiple times, different days and different times of the day. I have yet for someone to answer the phone! From what I’ve read through other reviews, it’s seldom busy this time of year, BUT they can’t answer the phone?? Very disappointed!! I hope their in-person customer service is much better.

Jun 2021 • Couples We were in Trimble TN and walked in expecting to taste some moonshine-sloonshine and waited for 20 minutes as we walked around and was never greeted, or offered anything. One female behind bar was talking to the only other person there. So We left. Disappointed. We travel to alot of distilleries, breweries, and tap houses looking for the unique.

Oct 2015 • Couples We visited the Full Throttle S’loonshine on 10/10/15 while visiting the Dyersburg area for the weekend. Upon entering, it’s definitely a very nice but typical tourist distillery with hewn wood decor, rows of barrels and quart jars full of moonshine lining the walls and a large central tasting area.

Unfortunately that’s the only review I can honestly give because we never sampled any of the moonshine. After waiting for about fifteen minutes at the tasting bar for the young lady who appeared to be the only employee in the place to attend to us, we left.

• I find it necessary to point out that when we visited, there was no one, and I mean NO ONE else in the place but my wife, my daughter and son in law and myself.
• There was never any acknowledgment of our presence by the young lady behind the counter.
• No “I’ll be right with you” or “Can I help you?” Nothing.

They may have sold me a jar or two of shine. I may have dropped twenty or thirty bucks for a shirt. They may have tasty moonshine but I’ll personally never know and as a result of the attitude of the lone staff person I would certainly not make an effort to return.

• Aug 2015 • Solo If you’ve never been to Full Throttle Saloon in Sturgis, SD, then this is the next best thing.

The Full Throttle Sloonshine Distillery is owned by Michael Ballard, also owner of Full Throttle Saloon and created the sleepy little town of Trimble Tennessee into a popular tourist attraction. I was heading to Memphis when I decided to stop and check out the distillery.

I arrived on a Thursday afternoon and had the place to myself. Michael’s cousin is the manager of the store and was very friendly and informative. She explained the history of the town and talked about the operation of the distillery. I was able to sample several different flavors of the moonshine and ended up buying the original without any flavor.

The tasting room is also the gift shop and is huge with several tables and chairs inside and out to relax in. There’s no one allowed inside the distillery plant itself but you can look in the windows and read about the operation along the wall. Lots of detail went into this place and it shows.

It is a very nice place to visit. I had a good time, bought some good moonshine and would gladly return again. • We had always wanted to check out the distillery in Trimble after watching Full Throttle.
• So my hubby researched it & off we went! Everything he read said it was open on Sunday.
• However, when we got there, the tours run Monday- Friday only.

It was okay, the guy that worked there was awesome. I wish I knew his name. He works in the distillery also, so he was so informative, not to mention you can try all the moonshine. My favorite was the Margarita & Expresso!! Oh, wow! Sooo smooth. Needless to say, we purchased some goodies to bring home.

Full Throttle Sloonshine Distillery encapsulated in rural Dyer County, about one hundred and twenty-eight miles northeast of Memphis, Tennessee.

It is about an hour and forty-five-minute drive by car.To be more precise, Full Throttle Sloonshine Distillery is located in Trimble, Tennessee. This simple homespun community is the hometown of the reality TV star, Michael Ballard, owner of Full Throttle Sloonshine Distillery.

I found this establishment charming. A great place to visit, especially if you are local or in the area. I highly recommend you stop by and look around. Bright yet friendly with a comfortable homey atmosphere. Very appealing to the eye with old-fashioned rustic décor. Great experience Where on earth do I begin. After (hubby) won a trip to Sturgis there was no way I was going to burst his bubble in 2020. I have to say the whole experience was amazing. The saloon had inside entertainment, which was a sweet energy release! At the front entrance there was a bar to your left, I ordered a margarita and the bartender danced around like Tom Cruise in Cocktail. Get your camera ready! The atmosphere was a great big party with lots of cool decor to look at, but it was easy to stay distant from others. Outside there were food vendors, lots of places for a drink, free FTS tattoos, and clothes/accessory vendors which were pretty reasonably priced. Of course there were times when the crowd got large but there was never a time I didn’t feel like we weren’t able to social distance ourselves. I really enjoyed the fact that we were staying at the Pappy Hoel campground and could easily walk from the show back to our trailer at any time. Sep 2020 This is real motorcycle bar. We had a couple beers here while we took in the surroundings. This entire place is filled with all kinds of metal objects, motorcycles, a car, old machinery, and tons of welded metal. This place is huge, it can hold hundreds of people both inside & out.

Read our transparency report to learn more. Aug 2014 • Couples During the 2014 Sturgis Bike Rally the Full Throttle Saloon had a promotion on for free beer. When I got there, none of the bartenders had any clue what was going on and proceeded to send me on a wild goose chase to find non existent Budweiser girls that were supposedly supposed to have the free beer.

1. The prices were the most expensive at the rally and the service and experience is getting worse year after year.
2. At Easy Riders they would honour their free drink policy twice a day so I spend my money and time eating in their really good restaurants.
3. The experience there with their great food, bands and service just added to a great trip.

“With everything that’s going on in Waco and just all the stuff with the clubs, for their own preservation, they’re going to want to try to keep this mellowed out and not have a problem,” Pat Matter — president of the Minneapolis chapter of the Hells Angels until he went to prison in 2003 — told the Associated Press in August,

Sturgis “wasn’t the typical place we was going to solve our problems at.” Yet though the rally came and went without a major incident, one of its centerpieces — the Full Throttle Saloon, billed as “the world’s largest biker bar” — is now gone. The bar, which inspired an eponymous reality TV show, burned early Tuesday.

And it had cabins, “The Full Throttle is the number one blue collar biker bar in the United States,” Ballard wrote on the bar’s Web site, “Everyone is welcome, but it’s well known that factory workers, construction workers and any kind of guy who busts his ass and saves his money all year is gonna be welcome at the Throttle.” The Full Throttle Saloon also was the subject of a reality show by the same name, filmed during the rally each year, that aired on TruTv from 2009 to 2013.

Shenanigans were the order of the day. “They have boobs, midgets, crazy tattoos, weird hats, awesome concerts and a little bit of everything else mixed in here,” one viewer told the Rapid City Journal in 2013, “Anything goes, and that’s what TruTV watchers like to see.” Forty-five firefighters, however, couldn’t prevent flames from destroying the landmark.

After the fire, Ballard was uncertain whether or not he would rebuild, but the resounding support from the public changed his mind. The new 600-acre compound will be called Pappy Hoel Campground and Full Throttle Saloon, named after the man who started the Sturgis Rally. The facility will have an olympic size pool and over 200 cabins and it’s situated at the base of Bear Butte, a sacred Native American mountain. To aid with the cost of building the new bar, Ballard and Dupree has started a brick project similar to the one in Sturgis, but his is a steel plate, which will be welded to the side of the bar.
